This part of our website is a report of a world trip. On October 5, 1996 we started a world trip of two years and nine months. We started in Africa, traveled through Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, went to India and Nepal and from there overland back to Europe, then we visited Australia and New Zealand, and for the last six months we have traveled through South America.
Nowadays, if you want to stand out when you travel, you almost have to climb Mount Everest backwards on a mountain bike, pedaling with your hands. Someone else has already done everything spectacular and sporting: walking across Africa, with camels through Australia, around the world by bicycle, on horseback through Pakistan and so on.
Be warned that this report is about smaller adventure. We are allergic to sports and the word 'adventure' horrifies us. We can walk and cycle normally, but you should not expect 'abseiling', 'survival' and 'bungee jumping' from us.
What we do enjoy is exploring new areas, seeing other countries and cultures, and meeting the locals. Moreover, we do not complain about uncomfortable transportation, primitive or missing sanitary facilities and unexpected setbacks while traveling. In short, we really like traveling with a lot of surprises and solutions devised on the spot.
The condition for this is that the probability must be quite high that we can tell it ourselves after our return.
